Of all the races that I have the privilege to photograph, The Whitney is always a favorite. The Saratoga setting, run early enough in the day to usually have spectacular lighting, and last but not least, this race usually produces a battle to the wire between great horses . This year Argentine bred Invasor, winner of The Pimlico Special and Suburban Handicaps in his last two starts, dug in to hold off Sun King and Rafael Bejarano by a nose. Invasor is owned by Shadwell Stables and is trained by Kiaran McLaughlin. He will make one more start before The Breeders' Cup.
