The Woodward StakesA small but talented field went to the gate for the Grade 1 Woodward including 2000 Horse of the Year Tiznow, Grade 1 Winner Albert The Great, 2000 Preakness winner Red Bullet, and Whitney Handicap winner Lido Palace. There are no hotter trainers and jockeys in racing today then Bobby Frankel and Jerry Bailey. When they team up, Look Out!! Jerry elected to stay on Lido Palace over Red Bullet. He rode both horses to victory at Saratoga. |

The 12,059 who were on hand at Belmont for the first round of Breeders' Cup Preview days saw an exciting finish to the Woodward. After battling down the stretch with Tiznow Albert the Great got passed on the outside by Lido Palace near the line. Lido Palace is not nominated for the Breeders' Cup and it appears that his connections will aim him toward the Japan Cup on November 24th. |
