Suffolk Downs opened their doors for another season.  The gloomy weather was beat back by the joy many felt that racing was still alive in New England. Several weeks ago management announced that The Mass Cap and all the open stakes would be cancelled this year because of low income from simulcasting over the snowy winter. The idea is to keep the purse money available going to local horsemen.

In his absence Dyn Panell  notched a four win day, which included a win in the featured Miss Indy Anna  Purse on Monarch Stable's Joann Jr. Apprentice Oscar Gomez gained his first Suffolk Downs win by guiding Suave Todd to a win in the seventh race
