In one of the most impressive performances on opening day, Vernon Bush piloted Yasou Stables' Return Trick to a fifteen length win, posting a  time of 1:11.06 which was the fastest for the day. The three-year-old Put It Back filly was bred in Florida by Arthur Appleton.

In the featured Miss Indy Anna purse Tri Like The Devil and Dyn Panell crossed the finish line first after leading at every point of call. It appeared to be Dyn's fourth win on the opening day card. After an objection by Tamay Aplander Tri Like The Devil was disqualified for interference at the top of the stretch.
