The True North

Michael Pegram's Woke up Dreaming (red and yellow silks) made every pole a wining one, but battled through the first two with Hobeau Farm's Smokume (rail, orange and blue silks) . The two battled through blazing early fractions of 21 4/5, 44 2/5, and 56. before Woke Up Dreaming opened up and posted a two length victory over the fast closing Voodoo (white and blue). The win was the first True North win for both trainer Bob Baffert and jockey Mike Smith

The Just A Game

Juddmonte Farm's Intercontinental went to post at odds-on in an attempt to repeat last year's win in this race. Wonder Again and Riskaverse, both good turf mares with earnings over a million, added to the quality of the field. When the gates opened the Bill Mott trained Sand Springs shot to the lead and made every pole a winning one to win The Just A Game. The five-year-old Dynaformer mare is now 8-4-2 in 23 starts and was ridden to victory by John Velasquez,

The Riva Ridge

In winning The Riva Ridge Stakes Lost in the Fog remained undefeated, beating a quality field including Egg Head, who posted a 112 Beyer at Delaware Park on Derby Day. Some argue that this might be the best three-year-old in the country. They might be right!! Look for Lost in the Fog in The King's Bishop on Travers Day at The Spa. Edgar Prado picked up the mount in The Riva Ridge, replacing the injured Russell Baze.
