The Remsen Stakes appeared to be a battle between Champagne and Laurel Futurity winner Toccet and Juddmonte Farm's royally bred Empire Maker. The Juddmonte Farm owned Empire Maker broke his maiden in impressive fashion at Belmont on October 20th. The Unbridled colt, out of Toussaud has already been picked as next year's Kentucky Derby favorite and is indeed an impressive equine to behold.

Empire Maker

When the gates opened Empire Maker got off a bit slowly. Toccet and the Tod Pletcher trained Bham went to the lead and remained close till Toccet surged to the lead at the top of the stretch and drew clear late. As Toccet neared the finish he shook his head several times. Empire Maker finished third.
