On May 19th Pimlico Race Course in Maryland hosted the second race in horse racing's annual attempt at the Triple Crown. No horse has won all three races (The Kentucky Derby, The Preakness, and The Belmont Stakes) since Affirmed in 1978. Preakness weekend was packed with top horses and exciting stakes races. |

Bob Baffert's Point Given abruptly ended Monarchos hope of winning the Triple Crown with a convincing win in the Preakness. Point Given pulled by stable mate Congaree at the top of the stretch and cruised to victory. A P Valentine closed well to finish second. With three of the top four finishers heading to New York it should be an exciting Belmont Stakes.
