In the most exciting finish of the day, Willow Rock Stables' Meadow Breeze charged down the outside of  the track and managed to gain a head victory in the 100th running of The Matron Stakes. The Todd Pletcher trained Featherbed and Octave dead-heated for second in a three horse blur as they crossed the line. Meadow Breeze is trained by Carl Deville and was ridden by Kent Desormeaux. The Breeders' Cup is uncertain for her now, but look for the Pletcher fillies to be there.
