The 84th Massachusetts Handicap

Suffolk Downs has always been able to attract top horses to their premiere event. This year they managed to attract four grade one winners including Funny Cide, winner of last year's Kentucky Derby and Preakness. Evening Attire, Offlee Wild, and '02 Belmont Stakes winner Sarava were also in the field of nine to enter the gate. As the field turned for home a great stretch drive ensued as Funny Cide, Offlee Wild and The Lady's Groom fought for the lead. In the most exciting Mass Cap finish in years Offlee Wild gained a head win over Funny Cide, whose margin over The Lady's Groom was also a head.
