The "other" Grade I race on "The Belmont" card was The 103rd running of The Manhattan Handicap and as expected it drew a great field including, Mr. O'Brien, winner of The Dixie on Preakness Day and Claiborne Farm's homebred Stroll, winner of The Turf Classic on Derby Day at Churchill. Trainer Wallace Dollase shipped in from the west coast with the Juddmonte Farms bred Meteor Storm. Meteor Storm came running late and registered a length win while favorite Stroll faded to sixth.
