Ask Queenie and Teo Perdomo gain a neck victory in exciting Kirby Stakes finish

The best three-year-old Mass bred filly took on the best three-year-old Mass bred male in this year's edition of The John Kirby Stakes. The John Rigattieri trained Senior Ladd had won The Rudy Baez and Topsider Stakes earlier in the year and was sent off as the 1 to 5 favorite. Ask Queenie, coming off a recent win in the Kimball two weeks ago, closed ground in the stretch and managed to eke out a neck victory in an exciting finish.

Earlier in the day the Ron Dandy trained Kipper's An Angel recorded his eight win of the current Suffolk meet. The eight wins in eleven starts make him the winningest horse of the meet with earnings of $89,970. Joe Hampshire, Kipper's regular, rider was aboard for victory.
