Vindication

With early favorite Sky Mesa declared out on Thursday, favoritism in the juvenile fell to Patrick Biancone's multiple stakes winner Whywhywhy. But hey, were talking juveniles here, and after hearing from D. Wayne, and then Bobby Frankel it was time for the Bob Baffert show. Bob, known for his development of young horses aimed towards the Triple Crown, had three horses entered in the race. The strongest part of the entry was a beautiful son of Seattle Slew named Vindication.

The Baffert show didn't disappoint. Vindication grabbed the lead from Bull Market, another Baffert trainee, coming  down the stretch and went on to a near three length victory. Bull Market faded to fourth while Kafwain, in the familiar silks of The Thoroughbred Corporation, came on to gain the place, giving Bob three of the top four placings. Will the Breeders Cup Juvenile jinx continue? Next year's Derby will tell!

Vindication passes Bull Market and gives Mike Smith his second win of the day.
