The Alabama and Gazelle
winner will be remembered as a great filly. Round Pond won the injury
marred event and an ironic twist to the situation was that trainer
Michael Matz and Edgar Prado were the same team that suffered a
breakdown in this year's Preakness with Derby winner Barbaro. Round
Pond, a four-year-old daughter of Awesome Again, recorded her seventh win
in eleven lifetime starts and has never finished out of the money.
